Technical & Craft Standards
00 — Introduction
Technical & Craft Standards
The materials, finishes, and quality checks we build to on every project — residential, commercial, and trade. This is the rigor behind the work.
We do not compromise on substrate, hardware, or finish. Every spec below is the floor, not the ceiling — architects and trade partners can quote against this document directly.
01 — Materials
Substrates & Hardware
Every panel, hinge, and lipping edge is specified below. No substitutions without written sign-off.
| Category | Standard | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | Blum — concealed hinges, runners, lift systems | Concealed hinges on all joinery items. No secondary brands substituted on quoted BOQs. |
| Melamine-faced board | Egger or Innovus | High-end decorative range only; matched to approved sample. |
| MDF (all uses) | E1 grade | Low-formaldehyde emission class, no exceptions. |
| Wall panel edges | Hardwood lipping | Solid timber lipping on all visible panel edges — no exposed MDF edge. |
02 — Sustainability & Traceability
Sourcing We Stand Behind
FSCFSC-certified board and timber available on request.
TRACEMaterial sources declared on the bill of quantities for every project.
E1 / LOW-VOCLow-formaldehyde board (E1) paired with low-VOC finish options — see Section 03.
03 — Finishes
Finish Systems
Finish is chosen per surface exposure and client intent — never defaulted.
| Finish | Character | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Wax | Matte, tactile, hand-applied | Fine furniture, feature pieces, natural-touch surfaces. |
| Acrylic | Satin to gloss, sprayed | Cabinetry and high-traffic joinery. |
| Water-based | Low-VOC, matte to satin | Interiors and joinery in occupied spaces. |
| Polyurethane | Durable, satin to gloss | High-wear surfaces, commercial fit-out. |
04 — Construction
Construction & Joinery
ALIGNEDGap runs checked for consistent alignment across the full run — evenness across the whole run, not just a nominal figure.
SQUAREAll joinery assembled true and square before hardware fit.
TRIMMEDEdge-banding on laminate surfaces trimmed flush at application.
E1 / BLUMSubstrate and hardware standards from Section 01 apply to every joinery item without exception.
05 — Quality Assurance
Two-Stage Inspection
Every project is checked in the workshop before it leaves, and checked again on site before we call it done.
Pre-Installation — Workshop
—Dimension check against approved drawings (DWG)
—Every Blum mechanism cycle-tested
—Finish inspected under raking light
—Edge and seam inspection
—Labelled and packaged to install sequence
Post-Installation — Site
—Fit and alignment checked against drawings
—Door and drawer operation adjusted on site
—Surface and finish condition confirmed
—Site cleaned before handover
—Client walkthrough and sign-off
06 — Lead Times & Quotation
What To Expect, And When
2 DAYSQuote turnaround from finalized scope and drawings.
SCOPEDLead time estimated at quotation stage, scaled to project size and complexity, and confirmed at order.
07 — Specification Format
Sample BOQ Line
Every quote we issue reads like this — material, finish, and quantity stated plainly, no ambiguity for the person pricing against it.
